EPA CONFORMING FUEL TANK SAFETY CANS, (CFR PARTS
89 et. al.)
Protectoseal's New Fuel Tank Safety Caps to Satisfy the New EPA
Requirements
The Protectoseal Company has furnished Fuel Tank Safety Caps for
a number of years now for the safe filling and storage of fuel in
tanks for Large Spark Ignited Engines. We are now introducing our
new line of Fuel Caps that meet the new stringent EPA requirements,
effective January 1, 2007
We are sure that you are aware of the United States Environmental
Protection Agency's (EPA) new requirements under EPA, Code of Federal
Requlations, CFR Parts 89, et.al. that pertain to the control of
evaporative emissions from Non-road Large Spark Ignition Engines
and Recreational Vehicles. This new regulation, which will go into
effect for the 2007 model year, requires that the manufacturers
of engines and vehicles for such equipment meet the EPA's new emissions
standards.
"Evaporative Emissions" levels are among the sources
covered by the new regulation that the equipment manufacturers must
address. One of the design alternatives for manufacturers to consider
towards satisfying this requirement is to use a pressurized fuel
tank system, a major component of which is the fuel tank safety
cap. To meet the new standard, the fuel cap must be self-closing,
must seal against defined system pressures and must also provide
vacuum relief due to fuel usage and ambient temperature changes.
The Protectoseal Company has designed a new line of Fuel Tank Safety
Caps, (patent pending), that meet these stringent requirements and
also carry U.L. Listing to the requirements of U.L. Standard 558
- Industrial Trucks, Internal Combustion Powered.
