Setting the Standards in Safety Products
For nearly one hundred years, Protectoseal has been setting the standards in the manufacture and supply of safety critical vapor and flame control equipment. To this day, the goal remains to offer a best-in-class range of safety critical products including flame arresters, pressure and vacuum relief vents, and other essential safety products.
As an engineering solutions company, Protectoseal is aware of the requirement to consistently evolve to meet the changing needs of industry by manufacturing market leading safety products or items that are specifically tailored to meet a unique requirement of a customer.
By actively participating in drafting and implementing international, industry-wide regulations, undertaking focused research and testing products, Protectoseal has been able to meet customer demands and lead in the development of safety critical flame arresters and pressure and vacuum relief vents for decades.
Setting the standards
Working to a goal of zero product defects and a commitment to setting, and exceeding, industry standards the company has adopted a process driven approach that sees a continual improvement in manufacturing excellence and product performance.
To achieve this, Protectoseal actively engages with industry bodies to set the standards for quality assurance and health and safety requirements. Operating globally, Protectoseal works with national and international organizations including those in the US, UK and India. Some of the organizations that Protectoseal works with include:
- The International Organization for Standardization (ISO): for the development and publishing of global standards for the design, construction, and safety regulations of storage tanks and associated safety equipment.
- American Petroleum Institute (API): The only national trade association in the US representing all aspects of the natural gas and oil industry.
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME): The professional organization that produces codes and standards covering many technical aspects of pressure vessel design, kinematics, consistency, and materials.
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): The world’s leading organization on fire related hazards. NFPA 30 and NFPA 58 standards outline the guidelines for the fabrication, storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids, and liquefied petroleum gases, with a focus on fire safety.
- CEN: The European Committee for Standardization that develops and designs voluntary standards for industrial products, services, materials, and processes in Europe.
Demonstrating compliance with the above organization’s standards enhances safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability in the tank storage, volatile liquid handling and pipeline industries. With the ability to design, manufacture and test in-house, Protectoseal also offers bespoke solutions that incorporate detailed specifications, sizes, materials and certification and most importantly comply with industry standards.
Innovative products
With innovative products, having been independently flame and explosion type-tested and certified, are designed and manufactured in the USA, UK and India. All Protectoseal facilities are ISO 9001 certified for the design and manufacture of pressure and vacuum relief devices, flame and detonation arresters, and other equipment used in the safe handling and storage of flammable and/or hazardous substances.
Protectoseal’s range of flame arresters can be specified for use in explosion groups B, C and D (IIA, IIB3 and IIC) having been rigorously tested in accordance with relevant international standards. These tests are certified to US and UK standards and to EN ISO 16852, the European Standard for flame arresters which provides for a significant safety margin in typical operating conditions.
Continued investments
As the industry continues to grow and evolve, Protectoseal has recently invested more than $5m in developing its facilities to remain at the forefront of safety critical manufacturing. The company also has dedicated and fully equipped facilities to investigate the characteristics of gases or vapors and conduct application-specific tests across a broad range of industries.
This investment, along with a global network of manufacturing sites, teams operating locally and strong working relationships with regulatory bodies, will help ensure that Protectoseal remains an industry leader in vapor and flame control equipment for the next 100 years.
