A New Year of Innovation and Excellence
As we head into a new year, it’s often a time to reflect on the last twelve months as well as to look ahead and make a commitment to improving the way we work in order to have a positive impact on customers in the year ahead.
At Protectoseal, we’ve done exactly that, and so we thought we’d share with you some of our innovations for 2024, as well as what we believe are good practices to implement to ensure safe and effective operations.
The Importance of Innovation
As the market leader in Flame Arresters and Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valves we understand the need to innovate to continually improve the performance of our safety-critical products to provide customers with an unmatched level of safety and protection.
Our in-house teams of technologists and engineers continuously work to develop new, highly advanced systems that are engineered to prevent explosions, fires, and other hazardous incidents. An example of such innovation is found in our range of In-Line Detonation Flame Arresters.
The Use of New Technology
Our new innovative HEDS® (High Energy Dissipation System) technology sets new standards in protection performance. The technologies provide ultimate protection against deflagration by utilising Protectoseal’s unique patented High Energy Dissipation System along with our E-Flow® technology. The combined technologies help attenuate shock waves and extinguish flames, mitigating the effects of an explosion by preventing its propagation.
The E-Flow® technology used in our HEDS® refers to ‘Enhanced-Flow’, which is now also being used in the majority of In-Line and End-of-Line Flame Arresters. The patented technology was developed in collaboration with our customers as the team sought to provide genuine user-centric solutions.
The E-Flow® technology is designed to provide optimal flow performance while at the same time ensuring effective protection within the Flame Arrester. The design enhances the flow characteristics of the products, allowing for improved gas and vapour flow rates during operation while also mitigating pressure drop effects.
Our innovative FAB Valve® (Flame Arrester Breather Valve) also uses E-Flow® technology. This patented product combines a Flame Arrester with a Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valve and is designed to protect tanks and process equipment from excessive pressure and vacuum, as well as atmospheric deflagrations.
By incorporating the E-Flow® enhanced crimped ribbon technology in the Flame Arrester element, the product is designed to optimise deflagration protection while also ensuring minimal maintenance and maximum flow performance.
Good Practice is Key
As well as examining new technologies for 2024, we also advocate the good practice of establishing a regular programme of inspection, maintenance, and repair. Having a programme of review, repair, or renewal helps ensure optimal performance of the technologies and reduces the risk of explosions or other hazardous outcomes.
To support our customers with their operations, Protectoseal undertakes complimentary site surveys and provides clients with a service report that gives a comprehensive overview of the findings. Using our network of approved and qualified inspection and maintenance partners, the surveys evaluate the condition and performance of Pressure/Vacuum Relief Valves, Flame Arresters, and Tank Blanketing Valves.
By undertaking the surveys, customers can rest assured that their safety-critical devices have been thoroughly inspected for wear and tear, corrosion, or faults as required for compliance with safety standards and regulations.
With the latest safety-critical technologies, regular audits of equipment, and a framework for effective maintenance planning, customers can look forward to safe and effective operations in 2024.
